Transitions
Change is one of the few things in life we can count on. It greets us at every turn in our relationships, careers, communities, and even in our walk with God. Yet no matter how frequent or familiar change becomes, it can still feel unsettling. But here’s the good news: God doesn’t waste transitions. He works through them.
As we begin our new series, Faith in Transition, we open with a powerful truth from the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 3:18 (CSB):
“We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.”
Paul paints a picture of transformation not as a moment but a movement—an ongoing process through which we are being shaped into the likeness of Christ. And the tool God often uses in that shaping? Transition. From glory to glory, step by step, season by season.
Scripture gives us many snapshots of this divine rhythm. When Moses passed the baton of leadership to Joshua, it wasn’t the end of an era—it was the beginning of fulfilled promises. God assured Joshua, “The Lord himself will go before you… He will not leave you or abandon you” (Deuteronomy 31:8). Leadership changed, but God’s presence remained.
When Elijah was taken up into heaven, his successor Elisha didn’t ask for a mere copy of the past. He asked for more. “Please, let me inherit two shares of your spirit,” he said (2 Kings 2:9). Elisha knew that with transition came opportunity—not just to continue the mission, but to carry it further.
And then there’s the moment when Jesus ascended, leaving His disciples with a promise, not an end: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you…” (Acts 1:8).
What seemed like a loss was actually the launch of the Church—Christ’s Spirit moving from beside them to within them. These transitions weren’t failures. They weren’t setbacks. They were setups for greater glory.
What about you? Are you standing in a space where something familiar is fading? A relationship changing? A role ending? A calling evolving? You’re not alone—and you’re not off course. You may be right in the middle of a divine handoff, a holy in-between, where God is doing something deeper than you can yet see.
This week, as we gather for worship, we invite you to come just as you are—in the midst of whatever transition you’re facing—and allow God to meet you there. We’ll be looking more closely at how the Spirit leads us through these seasons, not to diminish our faith, but to grow it, refine it, and move us toward His glory.
If you're longing for clarity, courage, or just a quiet reminder that God is still working, this series is for you. Bring your questions, bring your heart, and come worship with us this week as we step together into what it means to live from glory to glory.
Because in every change, God is constant—and in every transition, He is near.
