Stronger Church Family
Have you ever noticed how easy it is for a family to drift apart when conversations stop happening? Everyone may still live under the same roof, but without shared time and shared words, distance quietly grows. The church family can face the same danger. That is why the call to unity in Scripture is not optional or occasional. It is urgent, loving, and necessary for the health of the body.
The apostle Paul writes with deep concern in 1 Corinthians 1:10 ESV saying,
“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.”
Paul is not asking for uniform personalities or preferences. He is pleading for a shared commitment to Christ and His word as the foundation of fellowship.
Unity does not happen by accident. It is shaped, guarded, and strengthened when God’s people open the Scriptures together. Personal Bible study matters deeply, but Scripture also shows us the value of learning side by side. When believers study together, questions are sharpened, understanding grows, and hearts are aligned around truth rather than opinion.
Corporate worship plays a vital role in this unity. When the church gathers as one body to sing, pray, and hear the Word proclaimed, we are reminded that we belong to something bigger than ourselves. Worship re-centers our focus on God rather than personal concerns, and it renews our shared purpose as His people.
Yet corporate worship alone is not the full picture. Smaller settings such as Sunday Bible classes or midweek studies allow for deeper conversation and closer connection. In these spaces, Scripture is discussed rather than only heard, and relationships are strengthened through shared learning and prayer.
Small group Bible study also protects unity by grounding us in truth. Divisions often arise when opinions replace Scripture or when understanding remains shallow. Studying the Word together helps keep Christ at the center and reminds us that we are shaped by God’s revelation, not personal preference.
This is why opportunities to study together matter so much. At UABC, we are blessed to offer Sunday Bible study at 9:45 each Sunday morning as well as Wednesday evening dinner and Bible study at 6:00 pm. These are not just items on a schedule. They are invitations to grow together in faith and unity.
When we commit to learning together, we are choosing to walk in the same direction. We are choosing patience over pride and understanding over assumption. Over time, shared study produces shared conviction, and shared conviction strengthens unity.
Here’s the simple takeaway. Unity grows where Scripture is opened together. If you long to see a stronger church family, make Bible study a priority. Come ready to learn, listen, and grow alongside others. In doing so, we answer Paul’s appeal and reflect the unity Christ desires for His body.
